Provided your dog’s coat is not matted, we are able to clip and style your dog to a wide range of lengths and styles, including breed-specific trims.
Clear communication is key to achieving the look you’re hoping for. We encourage you to be as specific as possible when describing your preferences, and you’re very welcome to bring reference photos if you have them. The more information you can give us, the better we can tailor the groom to meet your expectations.
Some longer-length styles or detailed, breed-specific trims require additional time and care. When a groom takes longer than a standard appointment, additional time is charged in 15-minute increments to allow the groom to be completed gently, safely, and to a high standard.
Puppy Introduction
This appointment is the perfect first introduction to the grooming salon and plays an important role in setting your puppy up for a lifetime of positive grooming experiences.
We recommend introducing your puppy to grooming as soon as they are fully vaccinated. The earlier your puppy becomes familiar with the sights, sounds, and handling involved in grooming, the easier and more enjoyable the process will be for your puppy, for you, and for the groomer as they grow.
Our goal is for dogs to feel happy and comfortable when arriving at the salon. While this doesn’t always come naturally for every puppy, we are committed to working gently and patiently with each individual. If your puppy shows signs of anxiety or uncertainty, we will work closely with you to support them. This may include simple tips and strategies you can practise at home to help desensitise your puppy and build confidence over time, with the aim of calm, stress-free grooming in the future.
This introductory appointment takes approximately 20–30 minutes.
During your puppy’s early visits, we like to make it a positive and enjoyable experience. Puppies are given plenty of gentle handling, reassurance, play, and affection, and are gradually introduced to common salon sounds such as dryers and clippers.
During this session we may:
Trim nails
Hygiene clip pads and groin
Tidy around the eyes and feet if required
At the end of the appointment, we will provide you with a verbal update on your puppy’s experience in the salon, along with guidance and advice to support their future grooming visits.
Please note: A bath is not included with this service.
This service is generally suited to owners who show their dogs competitively, as each breed has its own specialised trim and set of standards required for the show ring.
Some pet owners also choose to maintain their dogs in a show trim or a modified show trim as part of their regular grooming routine.
Breed-specific styles typically involve a high level of hand scissoring and detailed finishing, which can take significantly longer than a standard groom. To allow adequate time and care, please book a Deluxe Groom for this service.
This service is suitable for dogs requiring a length longer than 1.5 cm on the body or legs. Many teddy-style grooms fall into this category. Some styles maintain a longer length all over, while others feature a shorter body with longer legs for a balanced, fluffy finish.
To achieve these styles, your dog’s coat must be thoroughly brushed and combed, with no knots or tangles present. Depending on the length requested, we use guide combs that attach to our clippers to create the desired length. These guide combs act as a length guide only — they do not produce a smooth finish on their own. To achieve a polished result, the coat is then carefully hand scissored throughout.
Because of the additional preparation, detailed scissoring, and time involved, this style takes significantly longer than a standard full-body clip. To allow the appropriate time and care, please book a Deluxe Groom for this service.
This style refers to a length of 1.5 cm or shorter on the body and legs. Many clients choose to keep the head, face, ears, and tail finished by hand scissoring to create a softer, more balanced look.
Styling options for these areas can be tailored to suit your preferences and your dog’s coat type, ranging from a neat and tidy finish to a fuller, more expressive style. This allows the shorter body length to remain practical and easy to maintain while still keeping character and personality through the head and tail.
A belly clip is optionally included with our Bath & Tidy service. This involves clipping the belly to a length of 1.5 cm or shorter.
This option is particularly beneficial for long-coated dogs. When your dog is standing, the clipped belly is not visible, allowing the overall appearance to remain natural while providing added comfort and practicality.
A belly clip helps keep the coat cleaner, cooler during warmer months, knot-free, and reduces the likelihood of grass seeds, mud, or water becoming trapped in the coat.
Generally, we do not clip a dog’s head, ears, or tail unless specifically requested.
After clipping or scissoring the body and legs to the desired length, we hand scissor the head, face, ears, and tail into the style you prefer. Styling choices are entirely personal and can range from fuller, more expressive looks to shorter, neater finishes.
Some owners love big square beards with long ears, while others prefer short, rounded faces with softly shaped ears. Tail styles can vary from long flag tails to pom-pom styles or shorter, feathered finishes — and occasionally, we even see requests for mullets or mohawks!
We also carefully hand scissor the feet to create a smooth, neat finish that complements the overall style.
We use a number 10 blade to clip sensitive areas such as the genital area, pads of the feet, and armpits. Clipping these areas helps keep your dog clean, comfortable, and free from knots and tangles in places that are difficult to maintain.
In some cases, dogs may experience what is commonly referred to as clipper rash. This is a mild skin irritation that can occasionally occur in sensitive areas and may last for a day or two after grooming. While this is not common, it can happen.
We are mindful of dogs with sensitive or pale skin, who may be more prone to irritation. In these cases, we adjust our approach by setting the clippers to a longer length in these areas to minimise the risk.
Please let us know if your dog has experienced clipper rash or skin sensitivity in the past, so we can tailor the groom to keep them as comfortable as possible.

We thoroughly brush your dog all over using a range of brushes selected to suit their coat type and condition. The coat is then carefully combed through to ensure there are no remaining knots or tangles.
In some cases, we are able to gently remove mild matting. Localised matting, such as in the ears or tail, can often be addressed with patience and care. This may require additional time and may incur an extra charge depending on the extent of the matting.
If a dog is heavily matted all over, or is particularly sensitive to brushing, attempting to remove matting can become stressful or painful. Each dog is assessed individually, and if we believe that brushing out matting would cause discomfort or distress, we will always choose the kindest option and shave underneath the matting instead.
This may result in a shorter coat than you were hoping for; however, it allows the skin to remain comfortable and gives the coat the best chance to grow back healthy. Our decisions are always guided by your dog’s wellbeing and comfort at the time.
We offer a complete de-shedding service for dogs that shed and/or have double coats. This process can be time-consuming, but it is highly effective in reducing ongoing shedding and improving coat health.
De-shedding begins with a hydrobath and hand-scrub using specially formulated de-shedding shampoo and conditioner. A high-velocity dryer is then used to help loosen and remove excess undercoat.
Once dry, we thoroughly brush the coat using a combination of professional grooming tools, carefully removing loose hair and undercoat until the coat is clean, light, and manageable.
We use a combination of three different dryers to ensure each dog is dried efficiently, comfortably, and with minimal stress.
A warm, high-velocity dryer is used first to gently remove excess water, allowing your dog to dry quickly without needing to stay wet for long. For smaller dogs, or dogs sensitive to noise or air pressure, we use a low-pressure heated dryer instead.
We then finish with a quiet, heated finishing dryer, which is used for the face and while brushing, ensuring your dog is warm, comfortable, and completely dry.
Some dogs can feel unsure about the sound or sensation of dryers. We always work at your dog’s pace, and for more sensitive dogs we use the quiet finishing dryer on the lowest setting, along with plenty of reassurance and gentle handling. With patience and positive experiences, most dogs become more comfortable with the drying process over time.
We bathe all dogs in a high-quality hydrobath using clean, warm water. The hydrobath spray head produces a unique hydro-action that gently massages and stimulates the skin. This not only provides a thorough clean but also offers a soothing, therapeutic water massage that can help improve circulation and relieve tired muscles.
The water penetrates deep into the coat and down to the skin, helping to remove dry skin cells, embedded debris, flea eggs, and other material that can be difficult to reach — particularly in dogs with longer or thicker coats.
Following the initial wash, we hand scrub using a range of high-quality, pH-balanced shampoos and conditioners selected to suit your dog’s individual coat and skin needs. We use trusted professional products, including Petway and Progroom.
A second hydrobath wash and a thorough warm-water rinse follow, and the process is repeated if necessary to ensure a perfectly clean finish.
Ear plucking involves gently removing excess hair from inside a dog’s ear canal. When appropriate, this can help prevent hair from blocking the canal, allowing better air circulation and reducing the risk of moisture build-up and ear infections. However, there are mixed professional opinions regarding ear plucking, and it is not automatically performed on every dog.
We only carry out ear plucking when it is needed and suitable for the individual dog. If at any point your dog shows signs of discomfort or pain, we will not proceed and will instead recommend that you consult your veterinarian to discuss appropriate options.
As part of routine grooming, we clean ears using Epi-Otic ear cleaner. This professional product helps remove earwax and debris and contains a drying agent to reduce excess moisture, helping to keep ears in optimal condition.
Ear cleaning is performed as a preventative measure only. If we notice signs of an ear infection or irritation, we will advise you to seek veterinary care for proper diagnosis and treatment.
If you have a preference regarding ear plucking, whether you would like it performed or not, please let us know so we can tailor your dog’s grooming experience accordingly.
We check and clip your dog’s nails at every grooming appointment. Nail clipping is included in the price of all grooming services.
Nail filing and/or grinding is available as an optional add-on for an additional $15. Filing or grinding creates a smoother, more rounded finish, helping to reduce scratches to skin, floors, and furniture. It can also be a great option for dogs who are anxious about traditional nail clipping.
Some dogs naturally have longer nails and cannot be clipped as short without risking bleeding. If this is the case, we will let you know and discuss the best ongoing approach for your dog.
We also offer nail services as a standalone appointment. These are quick visits and can be done while you wait:
Nail clipping only: $25 per dog
Nail clipping, filing and grinding: $40 per dog
This add-on is available to select when booking any of our grooming services.
Please let us know as soon as you arrive if you believe your dog may have fleas. If fleas are present, it is mandatory that your dog receives a flea rinse to prevent the spread of fleas within the salon.
A flea rinse incurs an additional charge of $20.
We use Fido’s Fre-Itch, a pyrethrin-based leave-in rinse that effectively kills fleas, larvae, lice, and ticks (including paralysis ticks) and helps prevent reattachment for up to three days.
Additional flea treatment products are also available for purchase in-store if ongoing prevention is required.
This add-on is available to select when booking one of our grooming services.
Poodle feet refers to shaving the feet, pads, and between the toes. While traditionally associated with poodles, this option is available for any breed and may be chosen for cosmetic reasons or to help reduce the risk of grass seeds becoming trapped between the toes.
Poodle feet may incur an additional charge of approximately $6.
This add-on is available to select when booking one of our grooming services.
Anal glands are small sacs located near a dog’s anus that contain a naturally occurring fluid. Most dogs express this fluid on their own during bowel movements; however, some dogs may occasionally require assistance.
Signs that your dog may need their anal glands expressed can include scooting along the floor or excessive licking or chewing around the rear or tail area.
We express anal glands externally only. For dogs that experience ongoing anal gland issues, we recommend regular follow-ups with your veterinarian to discuss long-term management.
This service incurs an additional charge of $15.
This add-on is available to select when booking any of our grooming services that include a bath.
We use a specially formulated shampoo and conditioning treatment tailored to suit your dog’s individual skin and coat needs. During the bath, your dog receives an additional hand wash, and the treatment is left to soak into the skin and coat for the recommended time to maximise its benefits.
This treatment has proven especially beneficial for dogs with ongoing or recurring skin concerns.
For best results, we recommend more frequent treatments initially (sometimes as often as weekly), with appointments gradually spaced further apart as the skin condition improves.
This service incurs an additional charge of $6.
